Metals New Zealand is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Osborne as the new Chief Executive.
Rick has a track record of executive leadership roles in large, complex organisations including Telecom, Fonterra, Air New Zealand, Fletcher Building and most recently, Head of Commercial and Corporate Affairs, Māori Television.
A director of Ramsgate Advisors consulting in corporate affairs, investor and government relations Rick brings a deep understanding of the New Zealand political and regulatory environment and proven expertise in engaging and influencing external and internal stakeholders, executives and boards and leading teams.
“I’m excited to be joining Metals NZ at a crucial time and working alongside members and the Government on the sector’s transition to a low-emission circular economy, and in developing mutually beneficial government procurement outcomes,” says Rick.
“The manufacturing sector makes a significant contribution to New Zealand but without investment and supportive policy settings it risks decline. Governments across the world have engaged with their manufacturing sectors to develop manufacturing strategies, and I look forward to collaborating with industry and government stakeholders in building a strategy for New Zealand.”
Rick replaces Nick Collins who stepped down as CEO of Metals NZ at the end of October after leading the organisation since 2017.
Metals NZ Chair Neil Watson, Head of CSP for Fletcher Steel says Nick has made a significant contribution to the sector, and the broader manufacturing and construction sector.
“At a time of unprecedented global change, Nick has been an incredible strategic force and voice for the industry, harnessing his deep government and political connections to advance the role of metals and metals manufacturing in a resilient and low-carbon future.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Rick on board. He brings exceptional connections and expertise and we look forward to working with him.”
